what are the codes and conventions of a contents page?

What are contents pages there for?
They are there to help the reader find articles/ to show whats in the magazine.

Codes and concentions of a contents page are...
  • different fonts and colours for headings, subheadings and text.
  • conteact details.
  • article page number is in bold.
  • letter from the editor and a picture of the editor.
  • direct address images.
  • 3-7 pictures.
  • split into columns.
  • blocks of colour to break up the page.
  • organised into duifferent sections.
  • heading of the magnazine at the top (smaller).
  • article page number on each photo.
  • have the same colour scheme as the front cover.

What do the magnazines have in common?

'good housekeeping'

  • All have a main image which is direct addressed and is mainly a celebrity. It is also a mid or mid-long shot.
  • The central image is the biggest coverline.
  • There is a central masthead.
  • Have a colour scheme of more than 3 or 4 colours.
  • Have a barcode at the bottom and the price at the top.
  • Date under the masthead.
  • Graphics around the coverlines.
  • 3 to 7 coverlines.
  • Masthead font is unique.
  • 2 to 3 fonts used.
